WHAT TIME IS IT?
By Richard Davis

How do you stop a deranged dictator from creating his own image of the world while he kills people and terrorizes an entire planet? I don’t have the answer to that question and it looks like world leaders are having a hard time slowing the juggernaut of death and destruction that Putin is causing.

Sensible and humane people see war as an option only after all other methods of diplomacy have failed. In Putin’s world, diplomacy is a tool for weak nations. He knows that he can use bombs and bullets whenever he wants because he has no regard for human life. When a leader is of that mindset, diplomacy and the gentler methods of compromise and conciliation will never succeed.

Putin is in the process of terrorizing the entire planet. He has created anxiety among nations close to his troops as well as in places far removed from the fighting. The attempt by world leaders to impose sanctions has done very little to slow the march to take over the country of Ukraine, city by city.

Putin may be the man in charge but there are others around him that have to be supporting his efforts. They are the rich oligarchs and military and political leaders who will do whatever it takes for Russia to dominate other countries.

As much as I want to believe that sending in assassins to kill Putin would be a good idea, I think that there would have to be multiple targets in order for the Russian death march to be halted. That is why targeted murder may not succeed. On the other hand, if Putin is much more off the rails than we know and is in conflict with his inner circle, taking him out might solve the problem. But no one knows for sure what is really going on in the Kremlin.

We are closer to a world nuclear war than we have ever been. Putin has put his nuclear forces on alert and, because his actions have not been constrained, it is very likely he would not hesitate to drop a few nuclear bombs on Ukraine in order to win his war.

World leaders must act as soon as possible to stop Putin from further aggression. All diplomatic options have failed and united world leaders have to develop a military strategy against Putin. A war of NATO nations against Russia might end up killing more people and destroying more territory than the current war that is mostly contained to the Ukraine.

One of history’s worst nightmares is becoming a reality and there should be enough clear-thinking leaders to figure out the best way to protect the planet from a madman. It looks like they are sending their money and weapons to Ukraine which means they are fighting a proxy war because they fear direct involvement would be worse than what is now happening. Who knows?

It is time for the U.N. and NATO and all of the united world leaders to step up to the plate and stop Putin. Sanctions and harsh words are not enough. The only thing that Putin understands is power. When it comes to war there are no easy black and white solutions. Whatever strategy is implemented, Putin must be assaulted with an overwhelming force of power that will blow him and his troops off of the face of the earth before they destroy the planet for the rest of us.

If another week or two of the Putin war is allowed to continue the Ukrainian refugees may not have a country to return to and the rest of the world will only be able to ask, “Why did we wait so long to take decisive action?”

To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is plant

A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate;
A time of war, and a time of peace.
