Brattleboro Selecboard Schedules Public Hearings For Youth Vote Petition

The Brattleboro Selectboard has scheduled two public hearings to take place on October 2 and October 9, 2018, at 6:15pm, in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center to take public comment on a petition to amend the Brattleboro Charter to include youth voting at age 16.

In accordance with Vermont Statues Annotated, Title 17, Ch. 55, §2645, on August 24, 2018, the Brattleboro Selectboard agreed to hold public hearings on the petition filed on August 20, 2018 to amend the Brattleboro Town Charter to include youth voting at age 16. The public hearings shall be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at 6:15pm and Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center, 230 Main Street, Suite 212, Brattleboro, Vermont, to receive public comment regarding the proposed amendments to the Brattleboro Town Charter. 

Copies of the full text of the petition to amend the Town Charter are available for examination at the Brattleboro Town Clerk’s Office, 230 Main Street, Suite 108, Brattleboro, Vermont 05301, and on the Town’s website at www.brattleboro.org. Interested citizens are invited and encouraged to attend either hearing or submit comments in writing to the Brattleboro Selectboard, 230 Main Street, Suite 208, Brattleboro, VT 05301 or by e-mail at tmsecretary@brattleboro.org prior to the final public hearing.
