August 2025 Precipitation Report

A second dry month in a row with brown lawns and gardens needing regular watering. At my location recorded 2.06″ compared to the NOAA normal of 4.32 inches.  A little less than half of normal.  For the calendar year still a little ahead of the average with 32.52″ compared to the average of 30.73 inches.

This month there have been a number of small scattered rain storms traveling thru, and if you were lucky you may have received more rain than I.  All numbers are from my location in the S.E. corner of Brattleboro and do vary.

A wetter month with 5.28″ of rainfall compared to the average of 4.32″.  There was measurable rain on 10 of the first 11 days and on 20 of August’s 31 days.  For the calendar year 36.10″ compared to the NOAA average of 30.73″. Across Windham County I see monthly totals as high as 7.59″ in Marlboro and a low of 3.75″ in Rockingham.  My numbers are from the South east corner of Brattleboro.  For more information visit CoCoRaHS.org

Brattleboro August 2022 EMS Update

Per the request of the Brattleboro Selectboard, I am to provide a monthly EMS update relative to the operations and any pertinent data collected. The last update was provided on July 19, 2022. This update is representative of that date till the date written on August 9, 2022.

Since July 1, 2022, the Brattleboro Fire Department (BFD) has responded to 313 EMS calls and 132 fire- related emergencies. On August 2, 2022, the BFD answered an astonishing 28 calls for service. 21 of those emergencies were EMS calls and 2 of the 28 were working fires in the Town of Hinsdale NH. To this date, no mutual aid has been requested into the Town of Brattleboro by the BFD.

Brattleboro August 9 Primary Election Information

Below is information that might be helpful to know for Aug. 9 State Primary elections.

The polling place for all three districts in Brattleboro is the American Legion, 32 Linden St., from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. 

Masks are no longer required to enter the American Legion for voting, but they are certainly welcome and will be provided, along with hand sanitizer.

Parking is available at the American Legion and the Municipal Center parking lots. There are handicapped parking spaces close to the American Legion entrance.

Brattleboro Absentee Ballot Requests

With August Primary elections and the November General elections coming up around the corner, we encourage all voters to visit their My Voter Page to update their registration address, including their physical AND mailing addresses, and request an absentee ballot to be mailed to them.

People can also register to vote using the online voter registration page at https://olvr.vermont.gov. Note that both of these links have been updated.
