Construction Update Brattleboro-Hinsdale Bridge

Construction Update

Brattleboro-Hinsdale

BF A004(152)

DATE: Wednesday, November 22, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACT: No traffic impacts are scheduled for next week, however, installation of delineators along the Vermont Route 142 corridor has yet to be completed. Crews conducting this operation may utilize traffic control packages as necessary and motorists should continue to drive slow and remain vigilant in the construction zone.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

The diesel hammer has finished driving the last pile to bedrock at the Pier 1 location, reducing the noise from the site. Crews have arrived to clean out the piles and remove the spoils from the top 90 feet before the footing can be placed. This clean out operation will continue into next week. Also scheduled for next week, crews will begin construction of the temporary support system for the steel girders that will span from abutment to abutment in the Barrows and Fisher yard near Pier 1.

LOCATION:

The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.

PROJECTED COMPLETION: Fall 2024.
