Vernon is Back Online

We are officially introducing the new unofficial website for Vernon, http://vernonvermont.org/, created and maintained by Bronna Zlochiver (who also publishes the unofficial town digital newsletter) and myself.

The site will publish news updates about Vernon, town documents such as minutes, warnings and agendas, upcoming events, links to selectboard videos on the BCTV website, a weather forecast, a town directory with phone numbers and email addresses, and links to Vernon town entities, organizations and businesses. It also features a gallery of seasonal photos of Vernon scenes.

In launching the site, we join several other Windham County towns —TownshendWardsboro, and Windham— that have unofficial town websites. Vernon discontinued its official site after deciding that it could not publish meeting minutes in a timely fashion under the state’s 2014 Open Meeting Law update.

Looks great and has decent content, well done. The Brattleboro chamber website redo RFP is out as well. I’m glad to see that challenging, to put it mildly, site is getting a major update and platform overhaul.

Hopefully Vernon will share the code freely with other towns who may not have the resources to put together such a nice looking and comprehensive site.
