As Marlboro College takes first steps in leaving Vermont to become the “Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies” on the Emerson College campus in Boston, the Windham World Affairs Council is holding what may be its last “Marlboro event” while the college is still a cherished neighbor. On December 6, 2019, at 7:00 pm at 118 Elliot, 118 Elliot St. in Brattleboro, WWAC will host two Marlboro students presenting on topics related to their senior research projects. We invite you to join us for this special event.
Over the years, WWAC programs have benefited tremendously from proximity to Marlboro College. For years, the college offered the Council the privilege of holding monthly talks at their Marlboro Graduate Center in downtown Brattleboro, never asking for a rental fee. Their Faculty members often served on the WWAC Board. Their students attended its lectures. They shared their prestigious Presidential Seminar Speaker Series with the organization. WWAC will really miss their presence in our community.

Question #2 & #3: Voter Beware!
If you think that voting yes on the proposed amendments on November 19th means voters would have a fair say in school closures… think again!
Read questions #2 and #3 carefully. I like the idea of giving the voters a say. Right now, the board would have authority to close classrooms or schools. The voters have no say. But, if these amendments pass, the majority does not decide.
Below is information that might be helpful to know for November 19th special elections.
Attached is a sample ballot for all four towns – Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford and Putney. All towns’ ballots are the same. Absentee ballots are currently available at the Town Clerk’s Office and may be requested until 5:00 pm on Monday, November 18th. Sample ballots can also be found on our website at www.brattleboro.org under Elections.
The Windham Southeast School District (“WSESD”) school board will hold information sessions on November 13th and November 14th to answer questions about the ballot for the proposed amendments to the Articles of Agreement. Election Day is Tuesday, November 19th, 2019. Early voting has already begun.
The Wednesday, November 13th information session will be held at Dummerston School at 6 p.m. Dummerston School is located at 52 School House Road, just off Route 5, in East Dummerston.

VT Digger is reporting that Marlboro College will be giving its campus and endowment to Emerson College of Boston.
“Under a tentative agreement, Marlboro leaders say the school’s roughly $30 million endowment and $10 million in land and buildings will endow Emerson’s Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies program, which will be renamed the Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies at Emerson College. “
