Brattleboro Selectboard Meeting Notes: Town Business Resumes - New Bike Lanes Discussed  View Printable Version
    Tuesday, September 07 2010 @ 11:23 PM GMT+4
    Contributed by: Lise

    Town NewsSeptember 6, 2010

Dick DeGray was absent, so vice chairperson Dora sat in as chair.

At this week’s meeting, the Selectboard and Town government again demonstrated what it is that towns do: raise money, spend money, manage big utilities (water and wastewater) and public facilities (the parking garage, the Municipal Center), and appoint citizens to volunteer committees to oversee certain other things. Or at least, that’s what they did at this meeting.

Read on for the gory details.

Town NewsRemember the Brattleboro Selectboard? It's been almost a month and half since we've seen them at a regular Tuesday meeting. They're back!

An epic agenda awaits them, too, at this first meeting in September. From Rental Housing Improvement Policies to a recycling demonstration by the Solid Waste Committee, the evening will be packed with action and adventure.

You can attend in person at the Municipal Center or watch on BCTV to find out more about local issues such as the BMAC plans for new parking, grants for the library and fire department, refinancing for the Transportation Center, passing responsibility for the Bee Line bus service to Connecticut River Transit, and much, much more. The agenda goes all the way to "S" on Tuesday evening.

Brattleboro Area Skatepark Is Coming (BASIC)

    Presentors: Adam Hubbard ahub@sover.net
    Francine Vallario francinesunfish@yahoo.com

The current project is the culmination of a 10 year effort to build a skateboard park in Brattleboro. One proposal, sited at Memorial Park didn’t find enough support. Another involved the Route 30 recreation area, a site which did not meet some basic criteria; the skateboard park was dropped from that plan. In any event, the site was too far out of town.
