Mary’s Mosaic

At midday Friday, November 22, 1963, my junior high school administration announced the suddenly and immediate closure of the school day – without explanation. Boarding the school buses already idling on the roundabout parking drive all students were taken home. Somehow, by the time we debarked at my rural stop, word had reached us that the President had been shot. Approaching the front lawn of our small farm, I saw my mother holding the front door half open with her head buried in the crook of her elbow sobbing uncontrollably. I knew before I climbed the front porch that our youthful President was dead.

So began the nation’s lifelong interest in the vagaries and intricacies behind the killing a president. Over the years, the protracted intimate exposé of the man, his times and his unresolved death, would fascinate Americans of all ages, but none more so than those of us alive and sentient enough to recall with clarity the details of where we were the day he died.

In 1997 I read with great interest Seymour Hersh’s book “The Dark Side of Camelot.” It was there, for first time, I read about Mary Meyer’s murder. By then I was somewhat inured to the various revelations of Jack Kennedy’s private life. Yet, it was unnerving then to add one more revealing component to this complex and beautiful man’s life.

When Chris Pratt, Brattleboro’s local documentarian filmmaker, asked me preview his book-trailer in the study of his home, I was not prepared for the flood of reminders that has nagged me by the what if’s: What if this President had woke up on November 23rd alive and well to continue his run for his second term.

Chris Pratt’s book trailer captures the searing drama of one of the great mysteries once again brought to our attention by Dr. Peter Janney in his book, “Mary’s Mosaic – The CIA Conspiracy to Murder John F. Kennedy , Mary Pinchot Meyer and Their Vision for World Peace.”

“The little-known murder of Mary Pinchot Meyer in October, 1964, may well be the connecting tissue binding together some of the central characters near the top of the conspiracy to assassinate President John F. Kennedy. Utilizing solid research with an insider’s knowledge, Peter Janney gives us an intriguing close-up view of Allen Dulles, Cord Meyer, James Angleton, Ben Bradlee and a host of other operatives and spooks, all of whom are tied to the woman who may have been instrumental in turning Kennedy from a hawkish Cold Warrior into a seeker of peace. Mary’s Mosaic just might have solved a great murder mystery. This is a must read!”

Looks like it came right out of the Marx/Goebbels Disinformation Manual.
Early on we see a crude attempt to Photoshop Oswald’s face on somebody else’s body. The shadow under his nose is out of sync with all the other shadows in the photo.
Then we see the statement “Finally, the Marines couldn’t take him anymore, and he was discharged — not just for his beliefs, but also for disciplinary issues.”
That doesn’t jibe with reality. Oswald enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on October 24, 1956, just after his seventeenth birthday. In the Marines, he qualified as an aviation electronics operator, a post that generally requires a security clearance and an above average IQ.
Although involved in several minor disciplinary actions, they had nothing to do with his discharge. In September, 1959, Oswald received a dependency discharge from the Marines on the grounds that his mother was injured and needed his care. However, after a three day visit with her, he left for Europe. Hmmm.
And, in a matter of days, he was able to get a visa for the Soviet Union (a chore that usually took months). Double Hmmm.
Maybe something was rotten in Denmark, but more likely it was in Helsinki.

Now, look at the photo of Ruby assassinating Oswald.
The guy on the left in the picture with the scowl on his face is former Dallas police Det. Jim Leavelle. In the picture, he is actually handcuffed to Oswald. I have met and spoken with Leavelle (Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Nov.22, 1988). At the time, he stated that he did not believe Oswald was the killer. (For what that’s worth).

And the Oswald Legend lives on.

The Top 5 John F. Kennedy Assassination Conspiracy Theories November 11, 2013, ABC News
    http://abcnews.go.com/US/top-john-kennedy-assassination-conspiracy-theories/story?id=20614951
    Excerpts:
The fifty years since the assassination of John F. Kennedy have done little to quell the public’s interest or skepticism about who killed the president. In 1978 … the House of Representatives Select Committee on Assassinations found that in addition to Oswald, there likely was a second gunman who fired at the president’s motorcade. The commission concluded that the gunmen were part of a “conspiracy,” without determining exactly who was behind it, opening the door to five decades and a cottage industry of theories. According to a 2003 ABC News Poll, 70 percent of Americans believe Kennedy’s death was “the result of a plot, not the act of a lone killer.” Fifty-one percent believe Oswald did not act alone, and 7 percent believe Oswald was not involved at all in the assassination. In the years since Kennedy’s death more than 2,000 books have been written about the assassination, many of which espouse one or more conspiracy theories. In nearly every theory that involves American conspirators, be they wealthy industrialists or tough-as-nails Mafiosi, one group is routinely represented – the CIA. One theory suggests that Oswald was a CIA operative and agents tampered with his FBI file before and after the investigation to make it appear he was a communist and lone wolf. [Another theory claims President Lyndon] Johnson was aided in the plot by another man who would become president, George H.W. Bush, a burgeoning CIA official who happened to be in Dallas on the day of the assassination.
In no particular order and with no endorsement, here are five of the most popular Kennedy assassination conspiracy theories.
    1. The Soviets Did It
    2. The Mafia Did it
    3. The Cubans Did It
    4. Lyndon Johnson Did It
    5. The CIA Did It
Ya pays ya money and ya takes ya cherce!

  • Panoramic stabilized video

Here’s an interesting project. Someone took all the available footage and put it together, then stabilized it to create a panoramic view of the assassination.

Warning – it is graphic. The president is shot and you can see it. Don’t watch if these things disturb you.
