Forty years after the God’s Wars, the district of Skittersill is still bound by decaying wards set by fallen gods. The Red King hires lawyer Elayne Kevarian to repair the wards, but he encounters opposition from the people of Skittersill, led by Temoc, a warrior-priest turned community organizer.
