Compass student, Rory Struthers, and his guitar building father, Richard have collaborated to build a unique electric guitar entirely out of construction scrap.   This first-of-its-kind, prototype guitar is worth well over $1,000! 

Guitar geek specs:

  • 25.625” scale length

  • 11.5” fingerboard radius

  • C-shaped neck cross section

  • Gold plated 7.6k Ohms & 8.6k Ohms humbucking pickups

  • Active/passive electronics

  • Coil tapping and phase in/out control

  • Active treble/bass cut/boost

  • Body is salvaged spruce 2×10’s sandwiched between two layers of ½ OSB house sheathing with ipe porch decking trim

  • Neck is salvaged cherry flooring with ipe decking fretboard 

  • “Tusq” nut and saddle

  • Two way adjustable “Hot Rod” truss rod
