January 4, 2021

Members Present- Anne Beekman, Shaun Murphy, David Schoales, Liz Adams.

Visitor- Conner Floyd

Staff- Paul Smith, Robert Clark, Kristie Henderson, Deyna Roebuck, Steve Hed, Andy Skarzynski, Steve Perrin

Other Board Members- Thomas Nolan, Tim Maciel.

1. Convened at 4:33 p.m.

2. Minutes of December 7, 2020 approved.

3. Policy Review updates-

D9- potential to use sanctioned drugs as a reason to discipline a staff member. Andy will ask Attorney Pietro Lynn and report.

F14- Andy will check on how non-residential tuition rates are established.

4. WSESD Climate Crisis Task Force Policy Proposal-

The committee invited maintenance and food service staff to share information re: toxic substances and the Putney Food Service practices.

Questions arose on a variety of points from the proposal. Adjustments were considered for Section 1.

Steve Hed, PCS food services director, spoke of the importance of working with everyone in order to build a successful program. He addressed the importance of careful planning.

Connor Floyd volunteered to forward the document outlining food service goals created for and by the legacy Brattleboro Town School District.

Robert Clark shared the Vermont state guidelines re pesticide in use at BAMS and BUHS. Field pesticides limited, done by licensed provider. He addressed a range of changes over the years aimed to improve health and safety over the years.

Liz requested Andy report what cleaning products are in use in the other schools.
