I. CALL TO ORDER

Chair DS called the meeting to order at 6:01pm.

DS announced the Board will meet on November 16 for ongoing diversity and equity work, and DS will soon send invitations to Board members.

DS asked Board members to review the many Leadership Council reports that have been submitted.

MOTION BY JR TO ACCEPT THE CLERK’S REPORT AND FINANCES AS THE CONSENT AGENDA. TM SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.


III. PUBLIC COMMENT ON NON-AGENDA ITEMS

Mindy Haskins-Rogers read a statement about the abuse allegations. DS said the Board is making progress on this issue, and others are working on this. The Board cannot publicly comment on their progress. Bethany Ranquist asked the Board to investigate this, and requested the Board form a task force. Deborah Stanford spoke about Dr. Overtree’s methods, and abuse and bullying vis-a-vis “student reporters.”

IV. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT

DS asked Interim Superintendent Mark Speno to delay presenting on enrollment numbers so Board
members can review this information.

Principal Kate Margaitis of the Green Street School announced a new hire. Vice Principal Jon Sessions
of the Academy School announced a request for a leave.

MOTION BY JR TO HIRE ASHLEY MELLO AS THE SIXTH-GRADE TEACHER AT THE GREEN STREET SCHOOL. KY SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

MOTION BY LA TO ACCEPT THE RECOMMENDATION OF THE ADMINISTRATION TO APPROVE THE LEAVE OF AMANDA PARADIS FROM THE ACADEMY SCHOOL. TM SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.


BAMS Principal Keith Lyman announced new BAMS Leadership Council members: Maureen Gallagher, Amanda McKinley, Mandy Nash, and Tracey McLean.

DS announced the Putney Leadership Council has a new member: Steve Hed.

MOTION BY JR TO APPROVE THE NEW MEMBERS TO THE BAMS LEADERSHIP COUNCIL, AND STEVE HED TO THE PUTNEY LEADERSHIP COUNCIL. KY SECONDED. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

November 19, 2021 – Special Meeting of the Board

Present: David Schoales, Thomas Nolan, Liz Adams, Tim Maciel, Shaun Murphy,
Jaci Reynolds, Kelly Young, Anne Beekman, Michelle Green

Also Present: Stacey Mousseau, HR Director; Steve Perrin, BUHS Principal

Board Chair David Schoales called the meeting to order at 3:32 p.m. and added an additional executive session item to the agenda – 1VSA §313(a)(1)(E) – Pending or Probable Civil Litigation or a Prosecution, Which the Public Body is or May be a Party

At 3:33 on a motion by Thomas Nolan, second by Michelle Green, the Board entered Executive Session for the purpose of 1VSA §313(a)(3) Appointment or Employment of a Public officer or Employee.

The Board rose from Executive Session at 4:02 p.m.

On a motion by Michelle Green and second by Tim Maciel, the Board unanimously accepted the appointments of Cassie Damkoehler, BUHS Dean of Students; Kebrina Howard, Academy School grade 2 teacher; and Johanna McLeod, Guilford Central School Grade 2 and Grade 2 long-term substitute.

On a motion by Liz Adams and second by Tim Maciel, the board unanimously accepted the resignation of Matthew LeBlanc, Green Street School Physical Education teacher.

At 4:05 p.m. on a motion by Tim Maciel and second by Michelle Green the Board entered Executive Session for the purpose of 1VSA §313(a)(1)(E) – Pending or Probable Civil Litigation or a Prosecution, Which the Public Body is or May be a Party

The Board rose from Executive Session at 4:11 with no action taken.

On a motion by Anne Beekman, second by Liz Adams, the meeting adjourned at 4:12 p.m.
