CALL TO ORDER—6:00 p.m. – Kerry Amidon, Vice-Chair

ADMINISTRATIVE REPORT

Mark introduced Rebecca, Jean and Nicole, who gave a presentation around the Wellness Programs available in our SU that promote healthy lifestyles for our employees, both physical and mental. An interesting statistic provided was that $1 spent on wellness can reap a $5.81 return. The full presentation can be found here:

Mark distributed the school calendar for the 2024/2025 school year.

Mark presented the board with the new “Grow Your Own – Para to Teacher program” stating this also speaks to wellness and retention in our district. The plan is to invest in 5 para-educators per year in their pursuit of a teaching certificate. Interest has been high.

Mark and Paul spoke to the plan for the pre-K program at the site formerly known as Canal Street School. The new name chosen for the site is “Brattleboro Early Childhood Center”. The SU team is working on outreach and marketing materials.

Mark spoke to the upcoming search committee process for the BUHS Principal and the WSESU Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment. Members from the WSESD and Vernon boards have been recruited.

On a motion by Tim Maciel the board moved to approve the minutes of December 20, 2023.

Kerry Amidon conveyed the invitation from the WSESU Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) and administrative team who are partnering to plan an informative and engaging evening with Jacqui Kelleher, Executive Director of the Vermont Family Network (VFN) on January 30th at 5 pm at the BAMS Multi-Purpose Room.

PUBLIC COMMENT – there was none

On a motion by Kerry Amidon, the board voted to enter Executive Session at 6:58 pm under 1 V.S.A. § 313 (a)(3) the appointment or employment or evaluation of a public officer or employee.

The board rose from Executive Session at 8:28 pm with no action taken.

On a motion by Deborah Stanford, the board voted to adjourn at 8:28 pm.
