ANNUAL DISTRICT MEETING

WINDHAM SOUTHEAST SCHOOL DISTRICT

March 19, 2024 at 7:00 p.m.

The legal voters of the Windham Southeast School District (the “District”), comprising the voters of the Towns of Brattleboro, Dummerston, Guilford, and Putney are hereby notified and warned to meet at Brattleboro Union High School in Brattleboro, Vermont on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 in the gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. to conduct the following business:

Article 1.  To act on reports of Officers.

Article 2.  To elect the following officers of the District, which officers shall assume office upon election and serve for a term of one year:

  • Moderator
  • Clerk
  • Treasurer

Article 3.  To see what compensation the Windham Southeast School District will vote to pay its Directors.

Article 4.  Shall the voters of the school district authorize the school board to expend $65,846,891, which is the amount the school board has determined to be necessary for the ensuing fiscal year?

Article 5.  To transact any other business that may legally come before the meeting.

  • A number that seems difficult to justify

    $65,846,891 seems expensive! : )

    We could write checks for $65,000 to 1,000 students and just give it to them directly. Each year!

    And if $65 million shows we care, does that imply the Selectboard doesn’t care because they only request half of that? Maybe the Town should request that much, and fix some things!

    OK, more seriously, I do get that this is a year where teachers want raises, construction and supplies are more expensive, transportation is more expensive, and so on… but wow. $65 million.
