Seth and Candi Sawyer are Compass School parents and have created this wonderful event to support the Global Connections Program. The Seth Sawyer Band has years of experience entertaining people with classic bluegrass music. Seth Sawyer is the gentle giant of New England bluegrass music.

His soulful yet powerful tenor voice combine with the strength of his conviction in the lyrics he sings evoke a powerful response in those who know his work. Seth’s songs have been recorded by The Gibson Brothers, David Davis & the Warrior River Boys, and the Pine Hill Ramblers. Songs like Long Forgotten Dream (which went to #10 on the Bluegrass Unlimited charts), Engineer Without a Train, One More Time I Must Rise, Old Leather Bag, and Spread Your Wings are well known through recordings and Seth’s renditions of them with his band. Fans in New England call for him to sing his own songs as well as his versions of Gibson Brothers songs and bluegrass classics.

The Corey Zink Band is firmly rooted in the traditions of the early decades of bluegrass and country music. The band can be counted on for their unique and dynamic renditions of some of your old favorites. With a driving banjo, bass and soulful mandolin the group delivers powerful musicianship combined with lonesome harmonies blended with Zink’s smooth lead baritone vocal, which sounds just as much at home with a driving bluegrass tune as it does a tear-filled country weeper. Zink sings from the heart and the majority of his original tunes have been written about personal experiences or stories of love and heartbreak. The Corey Zink band members have come together to create the perfect recipe of entertainment with a tight, cohesive sound you are sure to love.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the Compass School Junior Class immersion and service learning trip to the Dominican Republic. Each year student travel to a Spanish speaking country for direct immersion in the complexity of issues in the developing world. Combining family stays and community service with meetings with individuals from the full spectrum of perspectives, students have a transformative experience that opens minds and hearts.

It is the combination of all these experiences that show how Compass lives it values and brings all its students to see themselves as global citizens interested in and ready for participation in international travel and learning.
