Open Mic Coffeehouse at Next Stage

Next Stage Arts Project announces the launch of a monthly Open Mic/Coffee House series, beginning Sunday, March 17, and continuing on the third Sunday of each month. Musical Local-vores are welcome to this community event to perform, or simply listen and enjoy. Musicians, storytellers, and other local artists who wish to share their art in a fun local venue are welcome. Next Stage is located at 15 Kimball Hill, Putney, VT.

Open Mic performers can sign up at 6:00pm and time slots will be alotted based on the number of performers. The suggested donation for performers and listeners is $5. At 6:30pm the night’s featured local performer will present a short set, playing “for the passing of the hat”.

Hosting the event each month will be the local duo, Vermont Timbre: Amelia Struthers and Mike Mrowicki. They will also perform the featured set on the first night. They’ll be sharing music from their work in progress: ”Songs To Light the Way.” Mike and Amelia began singing together in 2004. Their 2009 CD, About the Heart is available locally and online.

This monthly event will be held in the newly accessible community space, downstairs at Next Stage. “We’re excited about the open mic series”, said Next Stage Advisory Board member Julian McBrowne, “ as a way to encourage our talented and creative neighbors to get together in a comfortable community space.”

Next Stage Arts Project is a non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing Putney’s cultural and economic village center through the programming, development and operation of Next Stage.
