NBC’s Today Show is Coming to Brattleboro!

BREAKING NEWS! NBC’s Today Show is coming to Brattleboro! Thursday, November 12th at 9pm
Celebration begins at 8:30pm

Today Show meteorologist Al Roker is trying to set a Guinness World Record for reporting the weather in all 50 states in 7 days. And guess where he’ll be in Vermont? You guessed it the One and Only Brattleboro!

Al will be in town on Thursday, November 12th and he’ll be using the Brooks House as the backdrop for his forecast. We want to give him a big Brattleboro welcome – please come downtown and join in the fun! Al is scheduled to roll into town at 9pm, but the welcoming celebration will begin in Pliny Park at 8:30pm. (Yes, he’ll be here in the evening.)

We’re going to be on national television, so the more enthusiastic we are the better! Please spread the word to your friends, family, and co-workers. Forward this message, share it on Facebook and spread the news via Twitter (use @alroker and @todayshow along with #Brattleboro; #todayshowinbrattleboro; #rokerthon). The bigger the crowd the better!

If you have any questions, please contact the Brattleboro Area Chamber of Commerce at (802) 254-4565.

  • We need at least two people!

To set the record, he needs to:

Forecast the current local weather from each state.
Have GPS data evidence of his location at all times.
Have two independent witnesses in each place on hand to confirm that he actually did it.

Roker seems to like breaking records.Last year he did a 24 hour continuous forecast.

    • This would be so much better

This would be so much better if he were making an appearance during the day when people were out and about and maybe some local businesses might actually benefit from the event. From the lack of responses to this posting I’m guessing that maybe people aren’t that excited about this somewhat odd appearance?

        • The Great 50/50 Tour Brattleboro November 19, 1981

This is not Brattleboro’s first brush with infamy as a participant is these kind of stunts.
Way back in 1981, George Thorogood and his Delaware Destroyers embarked on their infamous 50/50 Tour.
50 gigs in 50 states in 50 days!!!
In my mind’s eye, this event is the pure embodiment of rock and roll, without any of the sexdrugsrockandroll bloat.
George and his 4 piece band did it by driving a Checker Cab a total of 11, 243 miles for 50 days. NONSTOP 50 days.

And Brattleboro was part of this great piece of rock and roll history!

          • Move It On Over

This was in the now-legendary Flat Street space downtown that we now use for the Boys & Girls Club. If you peek in, you can still detect the nightclub-type layout (a really good-looking one, I must say).

Attracted quite a few big names, I hear…

  • Great Photo Op

Bring your Bernie signs, also wear your t-shirts if it’s still this warm!

  • I think I have it straight

This is Today (Show). And today. But actually tonight. But not Tonight (Show).

So go see Today tonight, but be warned that there is no Tonight today.
