Volunteer Needed for Summer Food Program

Want to contribute to the health and wellbeing of children this summer?  Windham Southeast Supervisory Union is looking for a volunteer to serve healthy meals to children at the Living Memorial Park Pool.   Volunteering to serve this free meal will ensure that children have access to nutritious food despite the fact that school is not in session.  This is an ideal position for a parent already bringing children to the pool daily or a community member committed to supporting children thrive.

WHERE: Living Memorial Park

WHEN: 11:45 – 1:15, Monday through Friday from June 25-August 17

A Site Supervisor oversees the day-to-day lunch service at this location with support as needed from the Summer Food Service Program sponsor (Julia Hampton).  The Site Supervisor responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with the food service company to update food orders each day (i.e. less meals if there will be inclement weather)
  • Maintaining documentation of meals served each day and communicating this information to the program sponsor
  • Ensure children are taking all the required components of a meal.
  • Use proper food handling procedures when serving meals and maintain a clean eating environment.
  • Managing any leftovers.
