Brattleboro Memorial Hospital Medical Group Director, Dr. Tony Blofson announced three recent additions to the hospital’s staff.
Stephen M. Fleet, MD is joining BMH’s Center for Cardiovascular Health. Dr. Fleet received his BA from Columbia College of Columbia University and his M.D from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. He served his internship and residency at Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital, as well as a fellowship in Cardiology at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. Dr. Fleet is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. Most recently a member of Senior Staff at Lahey Clinic in Burlington and Peabody, MA, Dr. Fleet has also served on the medical staff at Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA and Union Hospital in Lynn, MA.
At Brattleboro Family Medicine, a member practice of the BMH Medical Group, David McCormack, APRN has been hired as a Nurse Practitioner. McCormack is not new to BMH, having been originally hired as an LPN on BMH’s Medical/Surgical Unit in 2001. Since then, McCormack has gone on to earn a BSN in Professional Nursing from the University of Vermont and a Master’s of Science in Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner focus from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. McCormack holds qualifications and certifications in emergency nursing, advanced trauma nursing, and emergency pediatric nursing and is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Medico Legal Death Investigation. McCormack will be transitioning to his new role at Brattleboro Family Medicine from his current position as a BMH Hospital Nursing Supervisor.
At Putney Family Healthcare, Jeremy Morrison, DO has joined the staff as a primary care physician. Dr. Morrison received a BA in Philosophy from Towson University, then a second BA in Biochemistry from Case Western Reserve University. He graduated from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. Dr. Morrison is a member of the American Academy of Family Practice, the Massachusetts Medical Society, and the American Osteopathic Association.

Brattleboro needs more primary care doctors
Now that BMH has all but swallowed up all of medical practices in town we seem to be experiencing a dangerous shortage of primary care physicians. More and more of us are being seen by physicians assistants. Just exactly what is happening? Are things so bad at BMH that we can no longer get real doctors? I am at a point where I piece together my health care by seeing specialists in Brattleboro, Keene, and Dartmouth. Thank god for my insurance.
