Frost, Elm, Elliot Neighbors – DIG IN

On Thursday, May 8th, 6:30 – 7:30 pm, the F.E.E.T. Neighbors will be hosting a meeting at the Elliot Street Cafe to discuss ways to beautify the neighborhood with Gardens. If you live or work in or near this area, please join us. We would love any support in gardening throughout the neighborhood and everyone is welcome. If you have seeds, or gardening advice to share, please come! And if you have no experience gardening, you are also welcome.

  • Wow, that is great

That is a really great idea. We used to live on Elliot Street, and I love the idea of flowers enlivening the street.

I have massive “russian” sunflower seeds, that I have been saving. The flowers and stalks are huge, dramatic, and transform our front yard from dull to beyond cheerful.

The upside is they are lovely and impressive, and will flower even in the face of semi drought.

A potential downside is that they are sometimes an easy target for getting whacked by anyone with a stick, an arm and inclination. We have lost some in that way. Still, I think that they are worth the risk, as they are so spectacular.

Would you like some seeds ?

  • Help fund several planter tubs on E Street?

I was hoping someone would do this. It’s a tad late, but if you all act, it can be done.

FEET might consider asking local shops to help fund (more?) planter tubs on Elliot from Main to the cafe because it’s heavily traveled, it’s mostly concrete and lacks the beautifying effects of trees, shrubs and flowers.

  • The meeting time is a little

The meeting time is a little awkward for me, so I don’t think I’ll be able to make it, but I would love to help out. I have plenty of seeds I can donate and can help out with planting work in daylight hours.
