Reupholsterer Wanted

Two people have told me about a reupholsterer in Newfane but I can’t find any ads or contact info. Does anybody know a chair reupholsterer who does the whole deal- springs, stuffing, fabric- in Newfane or anywhere in the area?? Thanks in advance.

  • I'd like to know, too...

Our upstairs neighbor just took a chair to someplace in Keene for this sort of work.

I have vague recollections of seeing signs for upholstery along RT 30, but can’t think of any specifics at the moment. I know there is the chair caning place….

Someone who commutes up and down Rt 30 might have a better idea. This would be good information for lots of people to know.

    • Reuse, Repair, Recycle

We need a number of repair services in town. Electronics repair, shoe repair, reupholstery… anyone who could do repairs would find a thriving business. This is a place of people who don’t like to throw things away. I wish I’d taken shoe repair instruction.

  • in Brattleboro

You won’t go wrong with Lori Palmer at Coverings. It’s located in the Midtown Mall-enter on High Street. She has been there for years and has many happy customers.

    • Thank you!

      I’ll check her out.

    • Lori Palmer

You won’t know that Lori’s work is slip covers, rather than reupholstery. She does fantastic work. But if you need springs, etc. you will need a reupholsterer. I have had several pieces done by Lori and Lisa Novak of Victorian Parlor Reupholstery in Guilford. Check with Lori. If she can’t do what you need done, she knows Lisa Novak very well.

      • Oh

Thanks Zippy. I do need springs restrung and such.

      • Lori Palmer has moved

Lori is no longer in the Midtown Mall. She has moved her business to her home on Cottage St. She recently upholstered the seat and back cushions of my morris chair. The cushions have an internal frame and she sent them out to have internal work done in Guilford. She does beautiful work and is a pleasure to do business with.

  • Chair Reborn

    As a p.s. here:
Dana Boyd Renault in Putney took the tired old Chair and made it renewed. I also learned its bones are good, and it’s WW2 era. She did a great job, practically intuited the new upholstery, and it’ll outlive me now.

    • de-upholstering

That’s good to know, and a needed skill in the community.

Our cats do de-upholstering, if anyone is interested in the opposite effect.
