  • Opportunity

As with snow shoveling, there seems to be a lack of entrepreneurial kids in town to take take advantage of all the opportunities to get paid for lawn work.

Perhaps it is time for the retirees of this area to form a work group to do exactly this sort of job. Where a teen might have the energy to do an entire yard, a group of 5-6 seniors could do it more leisurely, and get exercise.

Money could be collected for the work done, then donated back to the organization (like Hospice does) or to a good cause (like Rotary).

Or perhaps an existing service organization in town would like to take on the formation of an Odd Jobs Club.

    • Such an organization already exists

Brattleboro Time Trade often has members who are willing to do yard work -among other types of chores. You do have to become a member but once your application is completed and the small membership fee paid you’re free to use any or all of the services offered. This summer/ fall I’ve been getting deliveries of beautiful organic produce and I just had someone come today who was willing to take all my winter quilts and launder them for me.
