Where Is This Roundabout

Does anybody recogize where this super roundabout is located?

Full disclosure: I haven’t a clue as to where.

(It is rumored that the engineer who designed it lost his mind)

  • China

Looks a bit like Shanghai’s Nanpu Bridge interchange. Maybe?

Pick your favorite search engine e for images and try typing in “super interchange” to see lots of crazy roads.

    Not China? Hmm…

  • One of the great interchanges

One of the great interchanges I know of, and drove through countless times, is Exit 14 of the New Jersey Turnpike. It makes this look orderly and simple. The exit 14 area is also extraordinary as a location for what must be one of the world’s most awesome transportation centers. Check it out on maps.

Besides for thirty or so lanes of motor vehicle traffic moving in different directions there is on one side along with commuter rail tracks Newark airport, one of the busiest in the world, and on the other, after crossing several major freight rail lines is Port Newark, one of the world’s busiest commercial seaports. It would be hard to calculate the number of people and tonnage of goods that pass through this area of about ten square miles.

It is at one and the same time testimony of the greatness of our intelligence and its creations that destroy us.
