Action Taken: At 7:38am Central Dispatch received a call reporting smoke in the building at 929 Western Ave. A 1stalarm assignment consisting of Eng 2, Eng 4, Ladder 1 and Car 1 & 2 responded. At 7:41am Eng 4 reported there had been a fire in the bathroom of Apt 202 which was out, and they had a burn victim and requested an ambulance. Firefighters removed the patient, who was the occupant of the fire apartment, from the building and administered medical care. Upon the arrival of Rescue Inc patient care continued and the male was transported to BMH with 2nddegree burns to his mouth/face/throat area.

The fire, which was in the bathroom and extinguished before the arrival of the 1st truck, caused moderated damage to that one area. The fire was investigated by members of the BFD Investigation Team and the cause was determined to be accidental, smoking while using home oxygen.
