The Brattleboro Selectboard will approve new FY26 budgets for water, sewer and parking at their next regular meeting. The parking budget includes options for the possibility of some free parking in December, or perhaps not. It’s up to the board to decide.
They will also buy a new fire car, plan a retreat, and hear about plans to improve the Depot Street area of town. You can bring up other items on the agenda during public participation.

In a memorandum dated June 11, 2025 Highway Superintendent Darren Pacheco discusses the Crack Seal Bid for 2025. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will award the 2025 Crack Seal Bid to Indus Inc. for a total of $59,768.
In a memorandum dated June 17, 2025 Town Clerk Hilary Francis discusses the updated Outside Consumption Permit for Retreat Farm, located at 45 Farmhouse Square. Town staff have reviewed and recommend approval of this item. A representative for Retreat Farm will be in the meeting to discuss this item should it be pulled from Consent. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve an updated Outside Consumption Permit for the Retreat Farm, located at 45 Farmhouse Square.
In a memorandum dated June 17, 2025 Town Clerk Hilary Francis discusses the First and Third Class Liquor Licenses for Rail and River Tavern, located at 36 Bridge Street. Town staff have reviewed this application and recommend approval. A representative for Rail and River Tavern will be in the meeting to discuss this item should it be pulled from Consent. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the First and Third Class Liquor Licenses for Rail and River Tavern, located at 36 Bridge Street.
In a memorandum dated June 11, 2025 Library Director Starr LaTronica informs the Board that the Library Board of Trustees has had a resignation and asks that the Board appoint Bob Ferrante as an interim trustee to the Brooks Memorial Library Board. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will appoint Bob Ferrante to serve as interim trustee until the 2026 Representative Town Meeting.
In a memorandum dated June 11, 2025 Library Director Starr LaTronica discusses the progress on the Capital Improvements Grant Project and the funding for this project that came from a $1,472,501 grant from the US Department of the Treasury. She asks the Board to authorize a contract with Scott McKusick for project manager duties for this project. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will authorize the trustees of the Brooks Memorial Library to contract with Scott McKusick for Project Manager duties in supervision of the Capital Improvements Grant Project, to be funded from the Library Endowment, not to exceed $50,000.

By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the renewals for Second Class Liquor License, Tobacco License and Tobacco Substitute Endorsement for SKJ II Sales Corporation.
In a memorandum dated June 13, 2025 Town Manager John Potter discusses the 2025 Brattleboro Goes Fourth Parade Permit application. The parade will be held on July 4, 2025 from 8:30am to 11:00am. Street closures will be required for this event. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve a parade permit for Brattleboro Goes Fourth on July 4, 2025.

In a memorandum dated June 9, 2025 DPW Director Dan Tyler discusses the FY26 Utility Budget and the recent Utility Rate Study the Town conducted. The three potential water and sewer rate structures (available in the memo) for Fiscal Year 2026 through 2030 are presented. The Selectboard is asked to review the options and select a preferred rate strategy to support the Town’s utility infrastructure and financial sustainability, and approve a FY26 Utility Fund budget.

C. Fire Car #2 Decision (7:25PM)
In a memorandum dated June 6, 2025, Fire Chief Jay Symonds and Assistant Fire Chief Charles Keir discuss the replacement of Fire Car #2, which experienced significant mechanical failure to its engine, rendering it out of service while responding to an incident on Interstate #91. Several options for replacement are presented in the memo and the Brattleboro Fire Department requests that the Board choose Option #1 to replace Car 2 and the associated command post radios and emergency lights for a cost of $70,802. 31. Three quotes were obtained and Springfield (VT) GMC offered the lowest price. 413Upfitting was the only vendor to respond and is the current vendor to the Town of Brattleboro used by the Police Department.
