    Thanks Tad, for writing that.

  • Raising money with energy

The Housing Authority Commissioners have the duty of countersigning all the Authority’s checks, and this month it is my turn.
I have noticed that each week, by far the largest checks I sign have been to Green Mountain Power for energy (we have electric heat).

At town Meeting, George Harvey proposed the town form a committee to examine the possibility of creating some sort of utility to generate energy, deferring our energy costs, and perhaps even generating a surplus which could be used to offset taxes.
Unfortunately, the proposal came at the end of the meeting, after we lost our quorum, so we weren’t able to discuss and vote on it.

I still think it’s an excellent idea, and I’m waiting for the Selectboard to bring it up.

Recent developments in technology, economics, politics and finance suggest that such a project might be quite feasible.
