OUTRAGE! VERMONTERS forced to pay electricity for marijuana grow operations!

“As Vermont edges toward a legal recreational cannabis market, everyone paying a power bill is indirectly subsidizing the indoor cultivation of marijuana.
Efficiency Vermont, established by lawmakers in 1999 and funded through charges on residential and commercial power bills, is working to blunt the power demand of the energy-intensive cannabis businesses taking root.”

Why is this an outrage? Because we shouldn’t be forced to pay the electricity bill for any profit making business! No doubt about it, the marijuana / cannabis businesses expect to make millions in profits.

Here’s an example, Kerry Patrick Raheb, on our Nov. 8th election ballot for U.S. Senator,
owns a marijuana store in Massachusetts. No wonder he offered on his website to give
Vermonters 90% of his salary if he wins the election, he expects to make millions in
marijuana / cannabis sales!

News report back in January 2022:
“The Vermont man who seeks to open a retail cannabis business in Adams (Massachusetts)
is also a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Vermont and
a promoter of conspiracy theories that attribute COVID-19 spread to vaccines.”

More recent news report!
https://www.iberkshires.com/story/69076/Adams-Planners-Approve-Recreational-Marijuana-Store.html
“ADAMS, Mass. — The Planning Board approved the town’s first
recreational cannabis retail operation on Monday.
The unanimous vote allows Kerry Raheb of Indica LLC to take the next step
in the process to open at 127 Columbia St., site of the former
Towne House restaurant. He anticipates opening this fall. …
Indica LLC is projecting $2.4 million in revenue the first year, of which the town of Adams
(Massachusetts) will get 3 percent, or about $72,000.
Raheb said his projections of are fairly conservative and based on industry averages.”

What’s another reason the news that everyone has to pay for the electricity of marijuana
grow operations is an outrage? Because while we are paying for the
electricity for commercial marijuana grow operations, we are fined $$$ big fines
if we grow more than 2 adult plant for personal use!

  • Wow!

Sounds bad, but before deciding how I feel about subsidies for marijuana growers, I would like to hear a rebuttal from a supporter of the subsidies. What could be their rationale?
