Write In Vote – Kathryn Turnas II

I decided to run as a write in candidate for the one year Brattleboro Select Board seat on March 4th.    I figure that this should not be a walk-in.  I am one of the District 3 reps and plan to continue as such.  I do not support the present plans for the Police and Fire as they stand and know there are other alternatives and how this will effect the property taxes in the future.  How many cuts can you make without shredding all of the necessary needs of this community?

      Where do you stand on the options tax?

      Your other stance regarding the Police & Fire Department boondoggle makes a lot of sense.

    Ms Turnas is on the District 3 printed ballot.

    I’ld still like to know her stand on the options tax. For the record, I am dead-set against all regressive taxes, and as the options tax is merely an extension of the sales tax, which is flat tax, it disproportionately affects the poor. This is not how to go about address the disgraceful inequality in wealth in this country, and if we can fight it at the local level perhaps there’s a hint of hope to bubble upwards.

      You were asking for Selectboard votes, not Representative votes.

      Stupid me. You’re on the ballot for Rep but not Selectboard.

      Has anyone won a Selectboard seat by write-in since 1970?
