Bernie Quits Race

The Dems have shown that they’d rather lose the election to Trump than to nominate the only one who could beat him.

    LOL

  • Vermont retains Senator

I actually like this timing. It means it is all up to Biden and no one can’t blame Sanders if the Democrats’ bold move toward the center-past doesn’t work. I’m not sure how you market that message in the present circumstances. It will be interesting to see what the DNC thinks will do the trick.

Both the Green Party and Trump were faster than Biden to invite Bernie supporters to consider their campaigns. Centrist democrats want those votes, but actively work against those voters.

I’m eager to witness the new progressive party I hope emerges out of this. As George W. Bush said: “Fool me once, shame on … shame on you. Fool me… You can’t get fooled again!'”

Too bad for VT Republicans. Shoulda worked harder to get rid of that crazy Senator… : )

  • That doesn’t reflect observed reality

Bernie has a lot of virtues, and I think he personally was a better candidate this time around, but he ran a campaign aimed at getting about 30% of the Democratic vote, and that is consistently what he got. Biden has for months and months been polling a couple of points better than Bernie in head-to-heads against Trump. Unless there is a body of polling out there that I’m unaware of showing that Bernie is consistently more popular vs Trump than Biden is in the swing states, both of those sets of data points strongly suggest that Bernie is not a stronger candidate against Trump than Biden is.

Fundamentally, though, Trump’s committed 35ish percent of voters love his politics of racist grievance, and another 10ish percent of voters are willing to tolerate it so long as they get corporate tax cuts and right wing judges. Bernie’s plan for overcoming that (the right will stop being so obstructionist when they see the strength of Bernie’s mass movement) was as foolish as Biden’s nostalgia for an imagined bipartisan past.

Resenting the center left does nobody any good, just as resenting democratic socialists does nobody any good.

Bernie’s campaign made the strategic error of assuming the field would remain fragmented and he could be the nominee with a 30% plurality of democratic voters.

It’s now pretty certain that Biden will be the nominee, and it is up to everybody who’s not a fan of kleptocracy, racism, anti-LGBTQism, anti-worker politics, right wing judicial activism, etc., etc., to do everything in our power to make sure that Biden wins the Presidency, Democrats hold the house and gain the Senate, and when they win, Hold them accountable and keep try to stop them from clinging to a futile hope for bipartisanship and comity.

I want to thank Geo A VT for a your reply to the think they would be able to survive another 4 years of our country be run by entire group of sociopaths. It is beyond believe that they would think that this is what Bernie would want.

  • Cuomo as Spoiler?

“They” pulled Biden out of the woodwork to destroy Bernie. (Feared by Wall Street)

Here’s a very interesting look at Andrew Cuomo, and whether Biden will be replaced by Cuomo at the Democratic National Convention. (a good strategic move, as Biden can’t beat Trump).

Cuomo is beholden to the elite who have long been funding him.
