It is an easy mistake to assume Cris Ericson is a Progressive. She claims to be one but has never been a member of the Party and has been disavowed by the Party time and again.
It is a peculiar quirk in Vermont election laws that allows a person to claim and run under any party affiliation they choose as long as there is not another candidate for that party listed. Ericson has been for many years tossing her name in as a Progressive wherever there was not one running. She is not a member of and has no support from the Vermont Progressive Party.
Her views do not and never have aligned with Progressive Party Principles or its Platform.
The Vermont Progressive Party disavows any connection she may claim or allude to. There is no good will between her and the Party.

That needs addressing
That anyone can declare themselves a write-in for a party they aren’t affiliated with needs to be corrected. Where do we start?
Vermont has funny laws! But guess who made them?
Vermont has funny laws, but guess who made them?
Aren’t most of our weird election laws passed by
Democrats? And what exactly is the Progressive Party? (1) They’ve never answered any of my emails to them over the years; (2) and most importantly, they DON’T WANT any candidates for the big races on their Primary Election ballot!
So, what is really going on? For the most part, the Progressive party functions merely as a POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE for the DEMOCRATS. The Progressives keep blank spaces on their ballot so that after the Primary election, as allowed by our peculiar mostly Democrat-made Vermont election laws, the Progressives can then fill the empty ballot spaces for the November general election with the names of the winning Democrat party primary election candidates! Clearly, it is the INTENT of the Progressive party to keep some ballot spaces BLANK so that they can use the Vermont law that allows them to PROMOTE the Democrats in the November election. This happens over and over again, and they call the November Democrats who appear as Democrat/Progressives as fusion candidates. They make them look more popular by claiming that they are promoted by two different political parties. In reality, they are promoted by one party, the Democrats, and the Progressives which are primarily functioning a great deal as a POLITICAL ACTION COMMITTEE. The Progressives exist to promote Democrats. Goofy election laws in Vermont don’t stop there! You know perfectly well, that you can chose to vote on any ballot you want in the Primary election, you can vote on a Democrat or a Republican or a Progressive ballot, even though you may not be a member of the party whose ballot you choose to vote on! You can intend to take the Republican ballot so you can vote for the least likely to win Republican, and skewer the results. So, if you are going to try to promote a change in Vermont election laws, then change a whole bunch of these screwy laws the Democrats made up to increase the liklihood that they stay in power. And, because the Progressives never answer my emails, please visit VermontParty.com Thank you.
