Are We Trustworthy? Laptop Stolen

I have the sweetest daughter. Roia is my angel. She has a mild form of autism called aspergers. She loves her life, family, faith, pets and her music. Although not true, Roia will tell you she is nothing without her music. Music is her connect, her happy place that sets her soul free in these bittersweet times.

Roia is also one of the most ethical and moral people I know. In a heartbeat she would and has given a beloved treasure to a child in need.Sometimes we take away treasures more precious than things.

The West Brattleboro Association is raising funds to put up two “Welcome to West Brattleboro” signs, one at either end of the village. These will add to the village’s sense of pride and make the village even more inviting and attractive to both visitors and locals.

To do it right, this will cost about $3,000 per sign, or $6,000 total. To date the Association has raised around $1,400 toward this goal.

Upper Living Memorial Park: A Possible Skatepark Site- BCTV Film

A film by Montgomery/Socci produced by Maria Dominguez; Upper Living Memorial Park: A Possible Skatepark Site is now available to watch on BCTV for the first time. It was filmed over 8 months ago based on my hand out  submitted to a site selction process requested by concerned citizens which was denied by the selectboard in March 2011. Please excuse  some of the repetition on points and reasons why we think ULMP  just may be the best skatepark location, this was our first attempt at filming. The Upper Living Memorial Park is under utilized in the summer and we think would be an almost ideal location for an expansive skatepark accommodating many various skate type activities within our public recreation park designated for such use and could tastefully coexist with present alternate season ski slope without too much interference.

Selectboard Meeting Notes: Should Non-Payers of Property Tax Contribute Anyway?

The Brattleboro Selectboard chose an architectural engineering firm for the Police Fire Facility project at their Tuesday meeting. The board also started a discussion about asking property owners with tax exemptions to pay something anyway for the services they receive.

Arkham fought for and received their outdoor consumption permit, the Town got a clean bill of health from auditors, the Grand List is up, and an upcoming Selectboard vacancy was officially announced. Read on for details.

Co-op Prices

I’ve been following along in the Co-op newsletter as General Manager Alex Gyori explains the ongoing woes at the Brattleboro Food Co-op.  In a discussion that has ranged from construction problems brought on by the bankruptcy of their lead contractor BayButt to the viccissitudes of Malfunction Junction, Gyori has enumerated a substantial list of “challenges” that the Co-op has faced since opening the new store last summer.
