The Brattleboro Department Of Public Works would like to update the public on the status of the road closure on Akley Road between houses 207 and 287. Due to unforeseen delays, the road closure will remain in affect through Thursday, October 15.
The Brattleboro Department of Public Works would like to inform the public that a contractor hired by the Town will begin replacing the existing double culvert on Akley Road starting Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00 a.m.
The project is located approximately 2,000 feet east of the intersection of Akley Road and Goodenough Road, where the existing double culvert crossing will be removed and replaced with a new box culvert.
At approximately 6:58 PM, the Brattleboro Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in a residence. Engine 1 was the first unit on the scene and confirmed that the structure was fully involved in fire, upgrading the incident to a second alarm.
The occupants were not home at the time of the fire, and no injuries occurred during the incident. A family cat initially believed to be inside the home was later found safe outside the residence.
On Monday, June 10, the Highway Division will be replacing a failed culvert on Goodenough Road. The closure will be near 42 Goodenough Road. Residents and Emergency Services can access address numbers 82 and greater via Akley Road. Please plan accordingly and avoid the area if possible.
The Brattleboro Selectboard began 2022 with new Town Manager Octavian Yoshi Manale at the helm. He remained relatively quiet, letting staff do most of the explaining while he adjusted to the new surroundings.
The board made a few FY’23 decisions, punted a few others to another meeting, and helped approve some articles to go before RTM at what they cautioned might be another virtual town meeting.
The first regular meeting of the Brattleboro Selectboard in 2022 is also the start of Yoshi Manale’s tenure as Town Manager. Welcome, Yoshi!
Changes to the Agricultural Land Preservation Fund will be discussed. The board will also consider feeding and providing childcare for Representative Town Meeting, they’ll review goals, and consider some traffic safety items. And, as always, you can bring up other items not on the agenda during public participation.
