Please Sign This Anti-War Petition for a Conversation With Bernie

Dear Vermont Friends and Neighbors (and Bernie Sanders constituents),

The Vermont Peace/Anti-War Coalition launched in January 2023. This Petition Letter to Senator Bernie Sanders is our first effort at gathering widespread Vermonters’ support for ending U.S. war making.  Many of us in Vermont believe it is time to unite on this issue–and not be divided. No matter what your views or affiliation, please join us in signing the letter to Senator Sanders asking him to review his foreign policy of writing blank checks to Ukraine and the weapons manufacturers. We are also asking for an in-person meeting to discuss Sanders bringing our views to Washington.

Bolton Makes Strange Bedfellows

John R Bolton

The anti-war and anti-US-meddling wings of all parties should be very happy today.  John Bolton, the evil warmonger who has been Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor for the past year and a half has just exited the White House, stage right.  Trump fired him, says Trump.  I quit, says Bolton.  Who cares?  He’s gone and the world feels slightly less scary as a result.

Peace On Earth

snowy

Around this time of year, it’s common to hear the phrase “Peace on earth,” which is what the angels reputedly said to the shepherds out abiding in the fields. “Peace on earth, good will to men,” they sang in glorious harmony. They were heralding the coming of the prophet Jesus, who was foretold to be the Prince of Peace. Christianity seems to have arisen out of a desire for peace — the absence of war, the presence of good will amongst humans. It was deemed so important that this soon to be major religion was founded in part on these corniest of virtues, peace and love.

Celebrating Golden Rule Day

Golden Rule Day 2018

Charter for Compassion is promoting a new day of action called International Golden Rule Day, which occurs this year on April 5. Golden Rule Day asks that participants “treat others and the planet as you would like to be treated.” Their view is that following the Golden Rule is not “an option” but “the key to our common survival.”
