Guilford Welcome Center Construction Update

Hello,

We are nearly halfway through VTrans’ project to resurface the Guilford Welcome Center parking lot! This seven-week effort includes repaving of entrance and exit ramps. While the car parking area is paved, visitors have been using the truck/bus parking area. Trucks, buses, and RVs are parking at alternate sites for the duration of the project.

DATE: Thursday, August 1, 2019

LOCATION: The center is located on I-91 Northbound.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES: Contractor Bazin Brothers is striping the car parking area. The contractor will start milling the truck parking area on Wednesday.

TRAFFIC IMPACT: Car travelers will continue to use the truck parking area until Tuesday. They will then be rerouted to the car parking area, where they will park for the duration of the project.

The Welcome Center is not accessible to trucks, buses, and RVs until project completion on August 23, 2019.

Alternative parking locations for trucks, buses, and RVs (including overnight) have been authorized at the existing weigh station south of the Welcome Center. Pull-off areas on I-91 are also available on I-91 in Putney, and at the facilities located at Exit 7 on I-91 (see map below).

LOOKING AHEAD: The Welcome Center building may be closed for up to four nights to pave the ramps leading to and from the Center. Ramp closures will occur between the hours of 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. from Sunday evening through Thursday morning.
