Construction Update Brattleboro-Hinsdale Bridge – Nov 3, 2023

Construction Update

BF A004(152)

DATE: Thursday, November 2, 2023

TRAFFIC IMPACT: Vermont Route 142 is open, and no work that might delay traffic is scheduled for next week. No traffic control is planned. Pile driving for the foundation of Pier 1 for the new bridge across the Connecticut River is occurring between the railroad tracks and the river, and may be distracting to drivers. Please use caution in this area.

Crews have finished driving the first of nine 30″ diameter steel pipes to bedrock to serve as the foundation of Pier 1. The distance to bedrock was 150+/- feet.

Pile driving is very loud, so it is only authorized from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday. It is anticipated to continue through Thanksgiving week. This is the last of the foundation work for this project

No work is currently scheduled up on the VT 142 corridor.

The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.
