Construction Update

Brattleboro-Hinsdale

BF A004(152)

DATE: Friday, March 15, 2024

TRAFFIC IMPACT:

The contractor’s crews have been accessing the Vermont Abutment off of Vermont Route 142 and will continue to access this location into next week. No traffic impacts are anticipated, but motorists should be advised to watch for vehicles entering and exiting the construction site.

There is no update on when the next steel deliveries to the Pier 1 site in Vermont will be scheduled, but details will be provided once available.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

Crews have stripped all forms for the Pier 1 footing and stem. The footing has now been backfilled with clean stone and the cofferdam sheets have been pulled. Work has begun on the cap for Pier 1 and forms are being placed. Next Tuesday, the cap rebar will be placed on top of the stem and the remainder of the week will be spent tying the cap to the stem, installing formwork, and making final adjustments to be ready for concrete. Another crew may begin work on drainage installation required in the Barrows and Fisher yard next week as well.

Work continues at the VT Abutment site next week to bring the bearing seats up to elevation.

LOCATION:

The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.

Unanticipated delays at a couple of the piers have adjusted the project completion date from Fall 2024 to Summer 2025.

PROJECTED COMPLETION: June 30, 2025
