Construction Update Brattleboro-Hinsdale Bridge – May 2, 2024

Construction Update

Brattleboro-Hinsdale

BF A004(152)

DATE: Thursday, May 2, 2024

TRAFFIC IMPACT:

No operations that will impact traffic on Vermont 142 are expected next week. Motorists should be aware it is an active work zone, and watch for construction vehicles entering and exiting work sites near the roadway.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

The shores of New Hampshire and Vermont are linked anew as all major structural steel components have been assembled! Installing cross-frames, and placing and tensioning bolts will continue through next week.

Crews will be cleaning and removing the components of the water treatment system that had been needed to dewater the Pier 1 footing site. Work to regrade and restore work areas around that location is largely complete.

LOCATION:

The Hinsdale, NH to Brattleboro, VT bridge project will replace the existing twin truss bridges on New Hampshire Route 119 over the Connecticut River with a single, new structure approximately 1800′ long. On the Vermont side, the new structure will begin on Vermont Route 142 – about 1000′ south of the current intersection of VT 142 and NH 119. The new configuration will connect to NH 119 in New Hampshire east of the George’s Field Road/NH 119 intersection.

Unanticipated delays at a couple of the piers have adjusted the project completion date from Fall 2024 to Summer 2025.

PROJECTED COMPLETION: June 30, 2025
