Favorite Classes Offered Again at HatchSpace

These classes filled up fast when offered in January, so we’re offering a second round in February!

Learn from the best!  HatchSpace instructors are experienced teachers, expert craftspeople and highly focused on safe shop practices. Classes are held in our new shop at HatchSpace, located at 22 High Street, Brattleboro VT.

These classes are suitable for beginners as well as experienced woodworkers who wish to learn new skills or refine existing skills.  Financial aid may be available, contact info@hatchspace.com for details.

Turned Items: An Introduction to Woodturning

Instructor: Doug Finkel

The wood lathe is a wonderful tool for creating quick, quality projects. And it’s loads of fun! Previous experience on the lathe not required.

1 session: Thursday , February 10; 1 pm – 4 pm

Introduction to Woodworking

Instructor: Blake Johnson

Build a simple side table while learning the basics of woodworking, including design, planning and the safe and effective use of core machines of the woodshop (jointer, planer and tablesaw).

8 sessions, Thursdays 6 – 9 pm beginning February 10

Create an Inlay with X-Carve

The X-Carve is a computer-guided carving machine (CNC), used with Easel, an easy-to learn design program.  Students will go through the entire process from design to finished piece.

1 session, Saturday February 19, 10 am- 1 pm

Woodshaping: Carving a Spoon from a Log

Splitting a fresh cut log and carving it into a useful and beautiful spoon is a truly rewarding experience. In this class, students will explore a variety of methods, both traditional and contemporary, by which to shape a chunk of wood into a spoon.

2 Sessions, Saturday and Sunday, February 26 and 27; 10 am – 5 pm
