Hits the Spot Yoga at Solar Hill in West Brattleboro announces a new course for 2016: Yoga for Golfers.
Yoga Center Director/Founder Scott Willis created this 12-session course as a way for golfers to improve their game during the off season while enjoying the company of other folks who love golf. “Particularly as we age, we benefit greatly from practicing golf-specific yoga techniques for optimal flexibility, strength, and focus,” says Scott.
Just noticed that The Backside Cafe closed? Anyone know when and why?
Beginner’s Hunyuan Taiji Quan is a 14 week series that introduces the principles of alignment, balance, correct movement, qi (vital energy) cultivation. Each week participants will learn a new movement of the Hunyuan 12 movement taiji quan form. Through dedicated practice, students will complete the form by the end of the series. Participants will also learn chan si gong (silk reeling) exercises to help open and relax the joints while simultaneously nourishing the vital qi and blood of the body. All are foundational practices to re-condition the mind/body connection, deepening one’s capacity to relax, release stress, improve balance, and build core strength.
I took , just southwest of BEEC. Such a cool experience!
Is it worth getting onto Route 5 south to avoid delays? If yes, how and where do I get on and off route 5?
Should I take Mass Turnpike (90) to 5 south? Get back on 91 at Agawam? Thanks.

Crafting for the Homeless
Come join Brattleboro Area Jewish Community, Congregation Shir Heharim on Sunday afternoon, January 3rd, from 1:00-3:00 pm, to craft items for the homeless population in the area. Using traditional crafts, we will make hats, scarves, blankets and sleeping mats from yarn and fleece fabric.
All you need is enthusiasm and interest–techniques will be taught and projects will use basic techniques and simple patterns. This event is suitable for adults, teenagers, and kids old enough to sit still and participate. Kids younger than 12 will need to have an adult in attendance with them. If you want to, you can take projects home to work on between meetings.
A Christian professor from Wheaton College has been censured for wearing a Habayyah in solidarity with her Muslim counterparts. The College claimed she violated their “evangelical Statement of Faith.” by publicly stating that Christians and Muslims “worship the same God”.
The irony (and ignorance) of this is that she was literally correct.
Allah translates directly to “the God” or more correctly, “THE God” (In the sense of the “one and only”). Arabic Christians and Arabic-speaking Jews also refer to God as “Allah”.

This post is on behalf of “Loaves & Fishes” community kitchen which serves a hot meal to anyone in need twice a week at Centre Congregational Church, Main St., Brattleboro.
We were gifted with a “Bready Machine” which we would like to see go to someone who could use it. It is suited for individual use, but it is less useful in our larger kitchen. Some pre-packaged bread mixes may also be available.
This year, the winter solstice will occur on December 21st at 11:49 PM EST. It’ll be the shortest day of the year in which Brattleboro will receive about nine hours of daylight. Happy holidays!

Dear Brattleboro Time Trade,
I am writing to thank you for the BTT scholarship which provided myself and my family access to BTT Membership. I am a single mother of four young children and would not be able to join BTT and benefit from its work coordinating time exchange within our community without this scholarship. I look forward to finding the help I need within the BTT community and the extensive services it’s members offer while being able to offer my time without the burden of financial exchange. Thank you for providing this opportunity to myself and the many area families in need.
Sincerely,
Busy Mother of Four
