The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 6:15pm in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Brattleboro Municipal Center (230 Main Street, Room 212) and over Zoom. Prior to the regular meeting at 5:30pm, the Board will convene and is expected to move directly into executive session to discuss labor relations agreements with employees and contracts. The attached agenda contains information on how to access the meeting remotely, including the required “passcode.” Closed captioning will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members. The backup materials for this meeting will be available on the town website by the end of the day.

Included in the Board’s materials is a letter of commendation honoring Brattleboro citizen Branden Howe on the achievement of becoming an Eagle Scout. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will agree to sign that letter of commendation.
In a memorandum dated May 29, 2026, Town Manager John Potter discusses the Vermont League of Cities and Town’s (VLCT) Board of Directors and a special meeting of the membership that was called on June 22, 2026. He requests that the Selectboard appoint Selectboard Chair Oscar Heller to that Board. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will designate Oscar Heller as the Town of Brattleboro’s Voting Delegate at the Vermont League of Cities and Town’s special meeting of the membership on Monday June 22, 2026.
In a memorandum dated May 20, 2026, DPW Director Dan Tyler discusses the Church Street Retaining Wall Replacement project and recommends accepting the bid from BELLCO Excavating of Brattleboro, VT. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the award of the Church Street Retaining Wall project to BELLCO Excavating, of Brattleboro VT for a total amount of $168,939.
In a memorandum dated May 20, 2026, DPW Director Dan Tyler discusses the Akely Road Culvert Replacement project and recommends accepting the bid from Neil H. Daniels Construction of Ascutney, VT. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the award of the Akely Road Culvert Replacement Project to Neil H. Daniels Construction, of Ascutney, VT, for a total of $275,000.
In a memorandum dated May 21, 2026, DPW Director Dan Tyler discusses the 2026 Crack Seal Project and recommends that we approve a contract with Sealcoating Inc. DBA Indus of Braintree, MA. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the award of the 2026 Crack Seal Project contract to Sealcoating Inc. DBA Indus of Braintree, MA for a total amount of $80,477.
In a memorandum dated May 26, 2026, Police Chief Jeremy Evans discuses the upfitting of two police vehicles through a sole source contract. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will authorize the Police Department to engage with 413 Upfitting for the upfit of two police vehicles through a sole source contract for a total cost of $53,200.30
In a memorandum dated May 22, 2026, Library Director Julie Perrin discusses a contract with SVE Associates for on-call construction services. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will ratify the decision to approve an increase in the contract allowance with SVE Associates, for on-call construction services not to exceed $20,000, for the Brooks Memorial Library Improvement Project, to be funded by the US Treasury Capital Project Grant for the Brooks Memorial Library.
In a memorandum dated May 29, 2026, Town Manager John Potter requests authorization to appoint Dan Adams for a one-year term as Tree Warden. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will appoint Dan Adams as the Town’s Tree Warden for a term of one year.
The Selectboard is asked to approve the annual dog warrant to enforce the requirement that all dogs in the Town of Brattleboro be vaccinated and licensed. The required statutory language is in the warrant, including reference to the humane destruction of animals that have not been licensed by their owners. However, the Town has never exercised that authority and currently has no plan of exercising that authority in the enforcement of the 2026 licenses. The list of currently unlicensed dogs is included in the Selectboard’s notebooks for this meeting. Since payments and documentation are still being received by the Town Clerk’s Office, staff will provide an updated list on the day of the meeting.
In a memorandum dated May 26, 2026, Police Chief Jeremy Evans requests authorization to allow Animal Control Officer Sky Brechner to write tickets. By approving the Consent Agenda, the Board will approve the addition of Sky Brechner to the list of municipal employees who are authorized to enforce municipal ordinances through the Vermont Judicial Bureau.
