Brattleboro is about to change from dual stream to single stream recycling on July 3. The Town of Brattleboro sent out a postcard with a reminder of this date, and a reminder that another big change is coming: plastics 1-7 will now be collected.
Shoot the Moon Theater Company continues its 2017 season at the Hooker-Dunham Theater with, “Trump’s Fifth Avenue: A Political Fantasia.” Show times are 7:30PM on Friday and Saturday, July 14-15 and July 21-22.
Theater and Library Camp Returns This Summer in Guilford Center
Another edition of “what have you noticed recently,” in which you can report on the smallest of small things. You know, those things that make you stop for a second look, or that you mention to others when you get back from errands. No detail is too small.
The Dummerston Community Center is holding a Coffee Break (bake, snack, coffee) fundraiser at the I-91 Guilford Vermont Welcome Center on Friday, June 30 from 7:30 am to 7 pm. Donations of baked goods, snacks, fruit, veggies, coffee, coffee cream, bagels etc. are needed. Any donation of food, gift certificates, or money would be greatly appreciated. Volunteers to help on Friday, June 30 at the food tables are also needed. The Community Center will be open on Thursday, June 29 from 9 am to 8 pm for drop-off of donations. Anyone having been to the Center for meetings, library, music lessons or other gatherings should recognize the importance of keeping the building in use, it is with the community’s help that the building can remain open for public use. The Coffee Break at the Vermont Welcome Center is an important fundraiser for the Community Center. I was just shocked when I called Brattleboro Taxi to get a recorded message saying they were no longer operating! This is a huge blow to those of us who can no longer drive and have used the taxi to get to appointments and to errands.
In observance of the July 4th holiday, all Town offices will be closed on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, with the exception of emergency services.

The call for entries for the Vermont Center for Photography’s 2nd Juried Photographic Book Exhibition “By the Books” is open until July 15, 2017. Noted photographer, Henry Horenstein will jury this exhibition Opening on August 4, 2017, it will showcase a wide variety of outstanding photographic books from artists around the world. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to “break out of the frame” and share your photographic work in an alternative format. All submitted books will be reviewed by our juror who will be solely responsible for selecting the books to be on display.
On Tuesday, June 27th, 2017, Vermont Roadworks, LLC, a contractor of the Town, will be repaving a section of Guilford Street (in the area PAST Summit Circle to near the Guilford/Brattleboro town line). We anticipate traffic impacts from approximately 7:00 am until the paving is completed around 7:00 pm.

Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present an evening of contemporary bluegrass and folk music with The Lonely Heartstring Band and The Stockwell Brothers Band at Next Stage on Friday, June 30 at 7:30 pm.
The Brattleboro Energy Committee will hold a special meeting on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 5:00pm in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.

Twilight Music continues its 15th annual Twilight On The Tavern Lawn series of folk-rock, world beat, rock, pop, Celtic, blues and bluegrass summer concerts on Sunday, June 25 with indie folk-rock trio The Dupont Brothers. The seven concert series continues every other Sunday through August 20. All concerts begin at 6:00 pm in downtown Putney on the Putney Tavern lawn (bring a lawn chair or blanket) or at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in case of rain. The series is sponsored by the Town of Putney, Green Mountain Well, Soundview Paper Company, The Putney Food Co-op, The Stockwell Brothers and many other Putney businesses and organizations.
