The Clash: Live in Tokyo 1982

” The Clash were an English punk rock band that formed in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk. Along with punk, their music incorporated elements of reggae, ska,dub,funk rap, and rockabilly. For most of their recording career, the Clash consisted of Joe Strummer ( lead guitar ,vocals), Mick Jones (lead guitar, vocals) Paul Simonon( bass guitar, vocals) and Nicky “Topper Headon ( drums , percussion). An old-time gospel hour is planned in West Dummerston on Sunday June 9th, starting at 10:30 AM. The event, to be held at the Dummerston Community Center, will feature guitar and vocals by Gin Mill Bill. There will be no preacher, and no preaching! Light refreshments will be available. Donations will be accepted for the Community Center’s heating and maintenance fund.The Community Center is located at 150 West St. in West Dummerston village, just off Route 30. The music composed and performed by Eugene Uman, pianist and leader of the Convergence Project, achieves a difficult feat: it balances on an artistic tightrope between fresh, innovative and exploratory on one side, and accessible, understandable, exceedingly enjoyable and fun to listen to on the other. What keeps the project unified is the integrity of the compositions, the shared vision of the group’s members and the careful balance of jazz harmonies with Colombian rhythms.

Twilight Music begins its 11th annual Twilight On The Tavern Lawn series of folk, world beat, rock, jazz, zydeco, Celtic, swing, blues and bluegrass summer concerts on Sunday, June 2 with Planet Zydeco.  The seven concert series continues every other Sunday through August 25. All concerts begin at 5:30 pm in downtown Putney on the Putney Tavern lawn (bring a lawn chair or blanket) or at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in case of rain. The series is sponsored by the Town of Putney, Putney Food Co-Op, Putney Paper Company, The Putney Inn, The Stockwell Brothers and many other Putney businesses and organizations.  The concerts are free to the public (donations are accepted) and food will be available.
