Has anyone else smelled raw sewage around the corner of Canal and Main St? The smell intermittently permeates the area, all the way down a little into Hinsdale on the way to Walmart, depending on which way the wind is blowing. 

Is it coming from Brattleboro’s new wastewater treatment plant? We shouldn’t be smelling that in town, especially the downtown area where there’s a relative high number of people. So disgusting, just another reason to move.

…how much snow Bratt got and what the current wind chill is up there.

I’ve lived here for 15 years. I know there are so many amazing things about the Brattleboro area, but fear that like most folks, I’ve become blind to some of them due to familiarity.  

I have a friend from out of town coming for a week.  Suggestions on local must-do’s? Hidden gems? Things I may have forgotten we have?

I’ve got local restaurants covered.  We’ll definitely take in a movie at the Latchis.  Visiting the Brattleboro Museum is on the agenda. If the weather cooperates, we’ll hike the Retreat trails and maybe Fort Dummer.

I have a prescription and am now trying to remember the name of this store in or near Colony Mill in Keene, NH where I once bought glasses for $50. Does anyone know if this store still exists, and if yes, its name and/or location?

I’m looking for suggestions and advice about finding a general practitioner, preferably someone who knows about lumps.  Any suggestions and advice are welcome. Thank you.

My regular plow guy is out of commission, and I didn’t realize it until now (got my dates mixed up).  Anyone know someone who is still plowing who might be able to do a small in-town driveway?  It usually takes my regular guy 2-3 passes.  I’m willing to pay any reasonable fee.

Is there any place locally that can repair an LCD projector?  Ours at the Humane Society is on the fritz, and we definitely don’t have the funds to replace it.  If it makes any difference it is an IBM M400.

This morning I was at Dental Health on Western Avenue and while I was there I saw some really interesting product labels from the Brattleboro Jelly Company. Dr. Neumeister had them mated and framed and they looked like they were probably from the early 1900’s. I looked online and I found other vintage Brattleboro Jelly Company labels for sale. Amazon.com even sells a canvas reproduction of the company’s maple syrup label. But I couldn’t find any information on the company itself.

Where was it located? Who owned it? When was the company in business? I have a feeling that there’s an interesting story behind those labels and I’m hoping that someone on ibrattleboro knows it and is willing to share.

We have recently relocated to Brattleboro and are getting married! Being new to town, we are overwelmed by the choices of JPs and other officiants in the area. We have no history or familiarity with any of them. I was unable to find much online for most of the JPs in town, although for a few I did uncover some town involvement and newspaper quotes over the years.

I’d expect we aren’t alone in wondering who to call first; Brattleboro is a destination town, and  I’d imagine people visit here to get married, and have the same questions as us.

Is there any need for pet food/care donations for the families displaced by the fire?

Can anyone explain how the “Single Payer Medical Insurance” for Vermont will affect me. I’m so confused. Will it interfere with “Affordable Care Act”? I have MVP through my employer. Will I be able to pick my own Insurance? Someone told me that paying for my insurance will not come out of my paycheck and that it will come out of my taxes? Any truth to that?
