Sandglass Theater announces the return of our most beloved community event: Puppets in Paradise! This year we are thrilled to present this biennial fundraiser in partnership with Retreat Farm in Brattleboro. Retreat Farm, Ltd., is an independent nonprofit working to restore this Farm as a place for you to learn, play, and gather.
BRATTLEBORO — Shoot the Moon Theater Company will hold open auditions for its Annual Halloween Spectacular on Monday, August 26 at 7 p.m., at Hooker-Dunham Theater & Gallery at 139 Main St.
Participants do not need to prepare any material; they will be asked to read from provided pages at the audition. Rehearsals will begin early-September. The show will perform Oct. 24, 25, 31, and Nov. 1 & 2.
Past Shoot the Moon Halloween shows include original adaptations of Frankenstein, The War Of The Worlds, a staging of Edgar Allen Poe stories and poems entitled 7 By Poe, Dracula, and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde.
Sunday, August 11th the VFW Post #1034 Auxillary will be hosting their annual bingo for cancer fundraiser. Doors open at 11 A.M. There are no outside food or drinks allowed, but food and drinks will be available for purchase (lunch served at 12. ) Games start at 1 pm.
SAXTONS RIVER – A barn dance Tuesday, Aug. 13 will help support asylum-seekers who are seeking a better life in the United States.
The Community Asylum Seekers Project (CASP) is hosting the dance at 5 p.m. in the barn of Mary Hepburn at 27 Pleasant Street, Saxtons River, with live music and calling for dancing by Andy Toepfer.
Strolling of the Heifers has announced the schedule for its Brown Bag Lunch at the River Garden series for the week of Mon. 7/29– Fri. 8/02. This week, join us for a discussion of Emotional Wellness and Diabetes Prevention, The Wonder and Gift of Reiki ,What We Can Learn From Horses, music with Mr. Blair, a group sing along with Rich Grumbine and more!
All Brown Bag Lunch events take place from noon to 1 p.m. at the Robert H Gibson River Garden, 157 Main St., Brattleboro, and are free and open to the public.

From July 18-21, the 7th annual Southern Vermont Dance Festival (SVDF) is celebrating the breadth and beauty of movement with a four-day schedule of classes, performances, community events, and more in Brattleboro. Preparing the way is “MOVEMENT 2019,” a multi-venue installation of twelve exhibits featuring diverse movement-inspired art work. Some pieces will be for sale.
Thursday July 18th the Southern Vermont Dance Festival will present its Opening Gala Concert at 4:30pm at the Latchis Theater on 50 Main St, in Brattleboro, Vermont. This performance will involve both upbeat as well as works with more serious themes. This kick-off event to the four-day festival is perfect for dance lovers and families alike, featuring many exciting genres of dance and high quality choreography from all over the world. The festival’s choreographers have come from every corner of the country to share new and revived work! There will be works in modern, ballet, fusion dance and more!

Ever hear of the “27 Club”, the name given to a group of influential rock musicians all of whom died at the tragically young age of 27?
There are a few who are always listed in “27 Club” groupings—such as Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Kurt Cobain—and members to come later like Amy Winehouse. However, there’s plenty of other less-notable musicians who were 27 at the time of their death.

VFW Post #1034 located at 40 Black Mountain Road will be having their Post Installation of Officers Saturday, May 11th.
Doors open at 4 pm, and the ceremony starts at 5 pm.
Brattleboro Post #1034 Auxiliary will be having a karaoke Friday, May 10th. Karaoke is by Matt & Linda, with doors open at 6 pm, and karaoke from 7-11 pm. $5 cover charge includes snacks. Public is welcome. This event is on the hall side. Cash bar.

Next Stage is excited to present our annual online auction fundraiser for 2019! The theme this year is Bucket List Adventures and 100% the funds raised through your generous participation in the auction will be deployed to offset direct costs of Next Stage programming.

SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. – The cast is set, rehearsals are going full blast and tickets are on sale for Main Street Arts’ production of Chicago, which opens Thursday, Mar. 28 at the Bellows Falls Opera House for a two-weekend run.
The cast of the Jazz-age musical set in the Windy City’s Cook County jail includes Kyla White as the imprisoned Roxie Hart and Izzy Serebrov as the smooth-talking lawyer Billy Flynn, who works for her release by making the tabloids sympathetic to her plight.
The 5th Annual Par for the Cause – an indoor mini-golf classic to benefit the Winston Prouty Center for Child and Family Development – will be held the weekend of March 9th and 10th at the Winston Prouty Campus, 209 Austine Drive in Brattleboro.
The Saturday evening event from 6:00-9:00pm on March 9 will feature delicious food by Guilford Country Store, a cash bar by Hazel and a silent auction of fun experiences. Tickets are $25 per person.
