Twilight Music continues its 15th annual Twilight On The Tavern Lawn series of folk-rock, world beat, rock, pop, Celtic, blues and bluegrass summer concerts on Sunday, August 6 with contemporary bluegrass and folk music quartet The Stockwell Brothers Band. The seven concert series continues every other Sunday through August 20. All concerts begin at 6:00 pm in downtown Putney on the Putney Tavern lawn (bring a lawn chair or blanket) or at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill in case of rain. The series is sponsored by the Town of Putney, Green Mountain Well, Soundview Paper Company, The Putney Food Co-op, The Stockwell Brothers and many other Putney businesses and organizations. All Brattleboro Town Offices, including Brooks Memorial Library, will be closed on Friday, August 4, 2017, from 11:30am to 1:00pm for the annual employees’ picnic.
The VJC’s 42nd Annual Summer Jazz Workshop culminates with performances by participants. An evening of music with performers ages 14-85 and hailing from all over the globe!

The midsummer night’s selectboard meeting was relaxed and productive. Brattleboro is getting a new dump truck and street sweeper, businesses received liquor licenses, police and fire facilities are coming along, and committee members were appointed.

A short rant about the way I look at the new police facility.
A brief community memorial service will take place on Thursday August 6th from 5:30-6:00 at the Hospice Memorial Garden located at Living Memorial Park in Brattleboro. The short program will consist of brief reflections on grief and loss, an opportunity to decorate a memorial stone to place in the garden or take home, and some quiet time to enjoy the beauty of the garden. Everyone is invited to this free event. The “First Thursdays in the Memorial Garden” program will be repeated on September 7th. The facilitator is Connie Baxter, Brattleboro Area Hospice Bereavement Program Coordinator.
A few midsummer grants and bids will be considered at the next Brattleboro Selectboard meeting, scheduled for Tuesday August 1 at the Municipal Center. (You remember the Selectboard, right?)
The Brattleboro Energy Committee will meet on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 5:00pm in the Hanna Cosman Meeting Room at the Municipal Center.
