9/11

Today is September 11th, AKA 9/11, the 20th anniversary,
Let us take a few moments to reflect on this day of tragedy and the many innocent people who gave their lives.
I don’t pretend to know what really happened that day, but it’s different from the “Official Story”.

Looking For An FM Radio

I like to listen to Vt Public Radio. I live downtown in a brick building, and I can’t get good reception.

Does anybody have an old FM radio that uses an external antenna?

Personal Stress and World Stress

There are few people who do not experience some degree of stress in their daily lives. We figure out ways to cope and we move on, trying to live in the moment as best we can. Lately I have been stressed more than I ever have in my entire life and am trying to get past it but it is proving difficult. Here’s my story.

I will spare you details but my wife and I have bought a house in Brattleboro and she has sold her place in Massachusetts. My house in Guilford, where I have lived for the past 41 years is for sale. (Contact me if you want to buy it.) We are in the process of moving into our new house. We knew this whole process would be complicated but we were not prepared for the level of anxiety we are experiencing. We have each other and that helps a lot.

Brattleboro Fall 2021 Flushing Schedule

FALL WATER MAIN FLUSHING TO START

Utilities Division crews will start Fall Flushing of the Town water mains on Thursday September 23, 2021, at 10:00 p.m. and continue through Saturday October 9, 2021

Some users have recently noticed discoloration of their water. Unprecedented rainfall has added color from dissolved organics in the source water. Additional organics accumulated in the distribution system is the cause of the discoloration. The water is safe to drink. Public Works tests the water throughout the distribution system daily. Flushing the water mains will improve the situation. Brattleboro is currently constructing a new water treatment facility which will improve our ability to treat the water supply during unusual conditions in the future.

Please note that water main flushing will occur at night and during the day.

Journalism –1881

1881
S. M. Waite was brought to Brattleboro by the 10 o’clock train on Wednesday morning, by Deputy Marshal Sprague, to testify in the several cases now pending before the commissioners against his estate in insolvency. He walks the streets in company with the deputy-marshal with all his old-time air of enjoyment and careless indifference. Whatever else may be the matter with him Waite evidently is not a prey to remorse and compunction for his sins and crimes.
