Weekend Concert Series – Dire Straits

Let’s pop over to Australia for the final night of Dire Strait’s Brothers In Arms tour from April 1986.

As with many groups, the best known Dire Straits songs are not necessarily their best tracks. This show features a mixture of hits (at the time) and some lesser-known songs.

Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits always seemed to fly just a bit under the radar, and like Kid Creole, probably didn’t get the full recognition they deserved. It was the 80’s and they didn’t have many dance moves to show off on MTV, though they did have some success with videos.

Are You Being Manipulated? Tobacco Industry Spends $27.4 Million Annually Marketing to Vermonters

World No Tobacco Day 2013 [May 31, 2013] calls for bans on advertising, promotion and sponsorship are one of the most effective ways of reducing tobacco consumption. As more countries make progress towards implementing complete bans, the tobacco industry is increasingly using tactics such as brand extension, product placement and stealth marketing to sell its products. The ultimate goal of World No Tobacco Day is to contribute to protect present and future generations not only from these devastating health consequences, but also against the social, environmental and economic scourges of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke.

Your Scariest Horror Movie Rec?

Okay, folks. I love horror movies and am hoping to see some recommendations that I don’t know of already. Personally, the gore and torture films aren’t what I consider scary horror. I’m talking about things that fill you with dread, are tense and leave indelible impressions. For instance… after seeing the Blair Witch Project I couldn’t get the sight of the guy standing in the basement corner out of my mind. Creepy is much more insidious than slash.

So please, if you’ve a mind to, tell what movies left that mark on you.

We are upcycling our mission and adding even more value to our community.

ReNew is a big idea with a big building. But with the economy becoming a small idea, so to speak; we are opening our doors to create spaces for other vendors, businesses, artists and nonprofits. We have a number of options and welcome a chance to partner with the rest of you.

We see possibility and invite you to see it with us.

Food for Discussion – Superheroes

Who is/was your favorite superhero and why?

To get the ball rolling:

Mine was Plasticman. He could change himself into any shape imaginable, but you could always tell it was him because the new shape always retained his features: Hair, sunglasses, smile, red costume, striped belt and diamond belt buckle.

BTW, does anybody remember the name of his clumsy sidekick?
