The last U.S. president has left a trail of crimes that are unprecedented in American history. A reasonable person would expect that such a high level criminal would have already been prosecuted for a few of the more egregious crimes, yet the man who may prove to be the most immoral and unethical person to live in the White House is free and has not yet been charged with a crime.
The American people need some degree of closure. We also need to have hope that Trump never again holds the office of President. The ball is in the court of the Justice Department and it will be up to Attorney General Merrick Garland to make sure that our legal system does not become another casualty in the Trump wars. It will be up to voters to destroy Trump’s political ambitions.

Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music present an evening of swing and Americana music by Zara Bode’s Little Big Band and StompBoxTrio, as part of the 2022 Next Stage “Bandwagon Summer Series,” on Sunday, August 28 at 4:00 pm on the lawn at New England Center for Circus Arts in Brattleboro, VT.
Zara Bode’s Little Big Band performs classic American swing to delight the ears, eyes, and feet. Inspired by the likes of Duke Ellington, Django Reinhardt, and Ella Fitzgerald, the Little Big Band features top shelf chanteuse Zara Bode (of Signature Sounds artists The Sweetback Sisters) and a sizzling horn section led by clarinetist and arranger Anna Patton. Brattleboro Senior Meals has an urgent need for Meals on Wheels drivers. Other MOW locations have been forced to close this vital need due to lack of volunteers. We don’t want to happen here. Brattleboro Meals on Wheels provide up to 144 people a day with meals. Please contact: Cynthia Fisher, Director of Senior Meals, at 802-257-1236. We need your help.
Today we face a crisis like never before, and we have the power to help.
COVID, climate disruption, rising food and energy prices, and war have created a “megacrisis.” At home we feel the pain of rising temperatures, gas and grocery prices. Low income countries have it even worse with millions more people pushed into hunger and poverty.
It doesn’t have to be this way. With the stroke of a pen, President Biden can trigger a simple, rapid, and cost-free solution: a new issuance of at least $650 billion in Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). This little-known option gives immediate help to recover from shock and meet human needs. No strings attached, no added debt burden, and zero costs to taxpayers.
The Brattleboro Selectboard doesn’t want to review what led to an abrupt change in EMS services in town last spring.
As much as some citizens would like to know, the board resists. No lookin’ back. No way. Don’t want to even think about it.
The next animal control officer will serve 40 hours a week, a fancy new B&B got a liquor license, the Town will work on plans for permanent downtown public restrooms, and the board expressed gratitude for the monthly EMS update and all the fine work being done.
The Town of Brattleboro is embarking on a new plan that will collaboratively develop recommended improvements to its bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The Walk/Bike Action Plan will draw on recent studies, including the 2018 Downtown Plan, Route 30 Multi-Modal Gateway Plan, Route 9 Continuous Bicycle Facility Feasibility Plan, and the Brattleboro Town Plan. It will weave together the pertinent recommendations from previous studies with local projects currently under construction or planned, and provide other solutions that will further connect the town’s evolving network of sidewalks, bike facilities, and shared-use paths.

To the woman in front of me, with what appeared to be her partner and two daughters on the Edible Brattleboro farmstand line this morning: Your gratuitous nastiness was not appreciated. It looks like you wished to pass on ugliness to the world. Insulting and unkind behaviour is not in the spirit of the gift/sharing economy.
