The Brattleboro Selectboard will hold a special meeting on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 9:00am in the Selectboard Meeting Room at the Municipal Center. Please note that the Board will discuss a portion of the FY19 Proposed Budget which is a separate document and can be found on the homepage of the Town’s website under “News” and on the Selectboard page under “Draft Minutes and Supporting Documents.” ASL interpreters will be available for deaf and hard-of-hearing community members.
The Brattleboro Citizen Police Communications Committee (CPCC) will meet on Monday, November 27, 2017 at 5:30pm in the Brooks Memorial Library Meeting Room.
Brattleboro became the first town in the state to ban single use plastic bags under 2.25 mil in thickness. It was the culmination of nearly a year-long effort of citizens and officials, and was adopted by a split-decision of the Brattleboro Selectboard.
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, all Brattleboro Town offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 23 and 24, 2017, with the exception of emergency services.
A revised ordinance to ban single-use plastic bags will be taken up by the Brattleboro Selectboard at their next regular meeting. If there aren’t objections, a 2.25 mil bag limit will be adopted.
The Brattleboro Representative Town Meeting Human Services Review Committee will meet on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 5:00pm at the Brooks Memorial Library in the Mezzanine Meeting Room. It is anticipated that the committee will enter into executive session at 5:05pm to discuss agencies’ financial records exempt from the access to public records.
COLCHESTER, VT…Green Mountain Power will need to interrupt power for up an hour to customers in some areas of Brattleboro this evening at 6 p.m. in order to safely repair a damaged transmission line.
The Brattleboro Parking Department would like to advise everyone that the winter parking ban will go into effect, starting Friday, November 17, 2017. Overnight parking is forbidden on all streets in the town of Brattleboro. Vehicles parked for longer than one (1) hour between 11:00pm and 07:00am may be ticketed and towed at the owners expense.
The second installment of the 2017 Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes will be due on November 15th, 2017 by 5:00 PM. Payments made after November 15th, 2017 will have an additional 1% interest added to the unpaid balance.

The Brattleboro Selectboard decided to revise their proposed plastic bag ban ordinance bag thickness, increasing it from 1 mil to 2.25 mil. This came after some special demonstrations and displays were presented and comments taken.
They also got a peek at the FY19 budget, with a review by the Town Manager that sets a course for in-depth analysis at a series of upcoming meetings. The board learned of continued steps in the realm of diversity, inclusion and equity. Groundworks received grant funds for operation of their new shelter, and results of the panhandling survey were reviewed.

The next monthly gathering of the West Brattleboro Association (WBA) will be a potluck/meeting and will be held on Thursday evening, November 9th. It will take place at 330 Meadowbrook Road, the home of Michael Bosworth. The potluck will begin at 6pm with the meeting following at 7.
