Dummerston School Leadership Council Meeting Agenda

The Dummerston School Leadership Council will meet at 5:00pm on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at Dummerston School. DLC will meet each month in person in the 4th grade classroom, and via Google Hangouts (unless there is an unforeseen interference). Future meetings-2024: Apr. 11, May 16, Jun. 13.


Eva Nolan for WSESD Board

This Tuesday, please consider casting a vote for Eva Nolan as one of Dummerston’s 2 representatives on the WSESD school board, which serves Dummerston, Brattleboro, Putney, and Guilford.

Her background as a mother of 2 boys, a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, and years of professional experience in outreach and support to survivors of abuse, Eva is uniquely qualified for this role.


Road Construction Projects in the West River Valley

Travelers in the West River Valley might be both pleased and dismayed to know that there will be Route 30 paving and other road projects going on soon. Expect some delays and alternative routes in the near future.

The big plan is to re-surface VT Rt. 30 in Brattleboro, Dummerston and Newfane. You may have seen people out taking measurements last year.:

“Project Location: Beginning on VT Route 30 in the Town of Brattleboro, at mile marker 0.326 (just north of the intersection of VT-30 and Cedar St.) and extending north for 9.948 miles and ending at mile marker 1.597 in Newfane (just past the intersection of VT-30 and Hemlock Hill Rd).

Celebrate Heirloom Apples at Scott Farm Orchard: 17th Annual Heirloom Apple Days— Now Two Days!

Due to the popularity of this annual harvest event, Scott Farm in Dummerston, VT, has extended Heirloom Apple Day, now in its 17th year, to two days on Sunday, October 13 and Monday, October 14 from 9-4pm!

Apple lovers of all ages are invited to come to Heirloom Apple Days and visit the 571-acre historic farm and orchard to experience some of the 130 varieties of heirloom apples grown there—fresh, baked and squeezed!

In addition to the popular heirloom apple talks and tastings, dry stone wall tours by The Stone Trust, and food vendors; new activities are in store for families such as make-your-own caramel apples and a scavenger hunt.


WSESD New Merged School District Warns $50,000,000 Combined Budget for Guilford, Brattleboro, Dummerston and Putney Schools

Residents of Putney, Brattleboro, Dummerston and Guilford are invited to join the new merged school board, Windham Southeast School District Board, for our 2019-2020 Budget Process.

The first annual meeting of the new merged board will be held on Tuesday, June 25th. Voters present at the WSESD annual meeting will vote on the new merged budget. This budget is a compilation of the five independent district budgets developed by the Guilford, Dummerston, Putney and Brattleboro Town School Boards and the BUHS District #6 School Board (Brattleboro Union High School, Brattleboro Area Middle School, Windham Regional Career Center).


Dummerston Community Center’s Annual Pampered Chef Fundraiser

Dummerston Community Center’s Annual Pampered Chef event will be held Saturday, March2, from 12:55 to 2:55. Kim Martin will host the show with new Spring products, recipes, demonstrations of many cooking needs, also hands-on-cooking and tasting of spices, sauces and rubs. There will be a special drawing at 1:00 p.m. and drawings throughout the show.


Benefit Rummage and Tag Sale at Dummerston Community Center

There will be a benefit rummage and tag sale on Saturday, Oct. 20th, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Dummerston Community Center, 150 West St. Items for sale include clothing, fabrics, sewing machine, sewing accessories, kitchen ware, glassware, footwear, costumes and wigs, toys and games, wedding gown, bedding and so much more, filling two rooms. Some items priced, some by donation.


16th Annual Heirloom Apple Day at Scott Farm Orchard

Heirloom Apple Day at Scott Farm Orchard in Dummerston, VT beckons apple lovers of all ages to celebrate its many varieties of heirloom apples at this free annual event on Sunday, October 7 from 10am-4pm. Come visit the 571-acre historic farm and orchard and experience heirloom apples fresh, baked and squeezed!

In addition to the popular apple talks and tastings, hard cider tastings by Whetstone Ciderworks of Marlboro, VT, and food vendors, new activities are in store for families. Enjoy fiddle music by Molly Durling of Putney from 10AM-2PM, an art station for kids, and dry stone wall tours, at 11AM, 1 & 3PM, led by The Stone Trust of the Master Features Park and the stonewalls that enhance the grounds.


Fundraiser at Vermont Welcome Center to Benefit Dummerston Community Center

The Dummerston Community Center is holding a bake, snack, coffee fundraiser at the Vermont Welcome Center on Friday, July 20 from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Donations of baked goods, snacks, fruit, veggies, coffee, coffee cream, bagels etc. are needed. Any donation of food, gift certificates, or money would be greatly appreciated.


Rummage and Tag Sale at the Dummerston Community Center

There will be a benefit rummage and tag sale on Saturday, June 30th, from 9-noon at the Dummerston Community Center, located at 150 West Street. Items for sale include furniture, furnishings, kitchenware, footwear, books, toys, games, clothing and many miscellaneous items, two rooms full. Some items priced, some by donation. Money donations from the sale will benefit the Center’s operating and maintenance cost.
